The Original Homestead

The following 2 pictures are the only evidence of what the original property looked like. It was torn down long before we were born.

The original house was best described as a shack.  I remember as a kid coming across a picture of an old house - rather rough looking.  Our dad said it was the original house on the property when his parents bought the place.  I asked him about it and he didn't have much to say and didn't seem to want to talk about it.  Other questions went unanswered and mother mentioned that was a time of his life he did not want to talk about.  The only story I remember was him talking about "his bedroom" being the screen porch, probably allowing his sister to have a room in the house.

The house was frame, had a tin roof and was probably only a couple of rooms.   It was located only a few feet from the Bayshore Road, which at that time was not paved.  As a kid, I remember there was an old well pipe in our front yard where the house was.  This was the only evidence of the house other than these pictures.  The picture on the left shows the house from Bayshore Road.  It was only a few feet setback from Bayshore.  The driveway is on the right side of the picture.  The picture on the right side might be the old house with the new house (92 Bayshore) in the background.  The picture is from a slide and might be flipped with the 92 Bayshore house and a barn or other unidentified structure.
